Sheng Tang Peony
Sheng Tang Peony is an art house that carries the essence of Eastern culture into dress made for now. Each piece joins contemporary Eastern aesthetics to slow, delicate craft, and in renewing old traditions it brings the artistry of Chinese handwork to the world.
The name joins the High Tang (盛唐), the golden age of the Tang dynasty, with the peony (牡丹), the flower its court loved above all others.
Always handmade
However many the orders and however difficult the craft, the house refuses the production line. Each master completes a garment alone. Depending on the work, a single piece may take months, or even half a year.
Always unique
Each batch of cloth is produced to a fixed quantity, with nothing left over, and is then embroidered by professional embroiderers. It is the care taken at every stage that makes a complete Sheng Tang Peony work.
Old technique, new design
The house carries forward China’s finest handcraft. It takes ancient Chinese court embroidery as its spine and folds in the spirit of Eastern aesthetics, so that to wear a piece is to live, for a while, inside that culture and its beauty.
